“This film was made about a poem by Saint-John Perse inserted in the work entitled “Amers”. But the time allotted to me for a short film did not allow me to give the poem in full. With the poet’s permission, I was obliged to make some cuts in an attempt to respect the structure of the poetic thought. Thanks to the privilege granted to me by Saint-John Perse, this film was made possible. My problem was to attempt the difficult adventure of seeking correspondences between the poetic expression and the plastic expression that it inspired in me, and which was to unfold on the screen, through the intermediary of film animation, during the recitation of the poem. For my part, I believe that cinema is not inevitably the result of a choice-driven arrangement of forms imposed by the world of reality. Through the mediation of the plastic arts, it can become a technique capable of translating the imaginary forms suggested by poetic emotion.” Laure Garcin
