This film recreates the exceptional relationship between the people of Sainte-Sévère, the film “Jour de Fête” and its director Jacques Tati. Following the order of the script, from preparation to production and dismantling, the film endeavours to capture the subtle, good-natured relationship that binds a film-maker and his occasional performers together in memory during this special moment, the commemoration of the filming of “Jour de Fête” on its fiftieth anniversary. It follows, with a touch of nostalgia, the same dramatic approach as Tati’s. This is an excellent opportunity to hear first-hand accounts and anecdotes about the month of June 47, which had such an impact on their lives. This is the time to listen to the memories of Mr Paquet, bugler of the clique in ’47, who plays the young man in the canotier, or Madame Chevassu, who once again dons her cashier’s costume. There’s also Madeleine Mennevalle, the pretty Sevérooise, and Michel Baudeau, the rebellious kid with the fearsome blowpipe, not forgetting Sophie Tatischeff, the tireless guardian of the family legacy.
