There are people in the metro, people from all over. People coming, going and meeting up: passengers on the line. Paris is not only the capital of France, it is also the city of Poles, Algerians, Angolans, Greeks and Vietnamese. I stood there with my camera and my sound engineer and waited: on the platforms, in the corridors, on the trains or on the stairs. I asked people: “Do you have a little bit of time? I said, “I don’t have any questions to ask you, I’d just like you to remember a song. Any song you can think of, any song you can sing. I asked them: “Could you sing it for me? “It takes place in Paris, on Line 2 of the Metro: Nation-Etoile via Barbés. A singular journey, along the railway line, right in the middle of everyone, to find yourself, to recognise yourself. Maybe that’s the story… words, songs, lives and the people who sing them. From Louanda, Algiers, Warsaw or here, the songs always tell the same story.
